Enter the Sacred Lotus
What is Blue Lotus?
The world of botanicals is filled with a plethora of promising plants. If you’re looking for something with psychoactive potential, then Blue Lotus warrants further inspection. Botanically known as Nymphaea Caerulea, Blue Lotus is an exotic flower with a rich history that spans the globe. It’s also one of the first non-cannabis herbs we got our hands to ascend into chill mode … yes, even before kratom.
The Sacred Lotus Experience
Botanical researchers much wiser than me have traced the majestic origins of Blue Lotus back thousands of years. The flower, often called a water lily, can literally be found floating atop rivers, lakes, and various bodies of water in its habitat. For a brief period, the buds rise to the surface, where they typically open during the late morning then close in early afternoon. Undeniably stunning, Blue Lotus visually captivated cultures the world over. In fact, the plant’s stunning appearance is partly responsible for the sacramental value it earned from Egypt and Syria to Thailand and Central America.
Blue Lotus is perhaps the most popular flower from the Sacred Lotus family, which also includes the red (pink), white, and yellow lotus. Each member, more or less, offers the same general effects. Due to its mild psychoactive properties, Sacred Lotus can promote relaxation, subtle euphoria, and feelings of overall well being. Moreover, it has been used an aphrodisiac that revs up sexual desire and satisfaction in both males and females alike. The difference is Blue Lotus typically contains a higher percentage of alkaloids, so those effects are more pronounced.
Like many botanicals, Blue Lotus can be used in a wide variety of ways. For starters, the actual flower, leaves, and stamens, the latter of which are believed to the most potent part of the plant, contain active alkaloids. Furthermore, Blue Lotus lends itself to a plethora of dosing methods. Smoking the herb is probably the most common method. It can also be brewed into a tea, or powdered and placed in capsules. At the end of the day, the form, dosing method, and amount dosed will have a lot to say about the results.
Final Thoughts
So does Blue Lotus really work? The simple answer is yes! You don’t have that kind of lineage doing absolutely nothing. With that said, it isn’t necessarily something that will knock your socks off. Some say Blue Lotus is subtle. I concur with that, but like to call it “sparkly”. Just a nice, calm, open-eyed sensation that just might make you say AHH. But don’t take my word for it. Cuddle up with some Blue Lotus and find out for yourself!
